Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour title, took control to create a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game break points in a close final set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
